R Madhavan Replaces Shekhar Kapoor and Becomes President of FTII

R Madhavan has become the new President and Chairman of the Film and Television Institute of India located in Pune after the official announcement made by the Information & Broadcasting Minister, Anurag Thakur. He has succeeded Shekhar Kapoor, who is a popular actor and director. The latest movies that Shekhar Kapur has directed are “What’s Love Got To Do With It?”, “Masoom,” “Elizabeth: The Golden Age,” “Bandit Queen,” and “Mr. India.” The latest movies in which Shekhar Kapur has acted are “Vishwaroop 2,” “Jeena Yahan,” “Drishti,” “Gawaahi,” and “Teraa Surroor – A Lethal Love Story.”

Information & Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur took to X (formerly Twitter) to announce that Madhavan has been appointed as the new FTII President. He wrote, “Heartiest congratulations to @ActorMadhavan ji on being nominated as President of @FTIIOfficial and Chairman of the governing council. I’m sure that your vast experience & strong ethics will enrich this institute, bring positive changes, & take it to a higher level. My best wishes to you.” To which Madhavan reposted Anurag’s tweet and wrote in his response on X, “Thank you so very much for the honor and kind wishes @ianuragthakur Ji. I will do my very best to live up to all the expectations. (namaste emojis)” He shared his gratitude and happiness on the X.

R Madhavan is a Tamil and Hindi film actor. He made his Tamil cinema debut with Mani Ratnam’s 2000 romantic film “Alaipayuthey” and he made his Bollywood debut opposite Dia Mirza in Gautham Vasudev Menon’s cult romantic film “Rehna Hai Terre Dil Mein.” He made his directorial debut playing former ISRO scientist Nambi Narayanan in “Rocketry: The Nambi Effect” last year, which fetched him his first National Award for Best Film. He directed, wrote, produced, and also starred in “Rocketry: The Nambi Effect,” a biographical drama centered on the life of S. Nambi Narayanan, the former ISRO scientist portrayed by R Madhavan. The film’s story revolves around the scientist’s career at the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), his involvement in the ISRO espionage case, and his subsequent exoneration.
