Punjab Police Revoke All Leaves for Officers and Personnel Due to Increased Security Measures

New Delhi: The Punjab Police have immediately revoked all leaves for its officers and personnel amid a major administrative reshuffle announced by the state government. The shake-up involves the transfer and appointment of one IAS officer and 55 PCS officers across various administrative roles.
The reassignments cover positions such as Sub Divisional Magistrates (SDMs), Regional Transport Officers (RTOs), and Chief Minister’s Field Officers. Among the notable changes, IAS officer Divya P (2022 batch) has been posted as SDM of Kharar, replacing Gurmander Singh. PCS officer Lovejeet Kalsi (2012 batch) is now the Additional State Transport Commissioner for Punjab.
Other key appointments include Balbir Raj Singh as Secretary of the RTA in Jalandhar, Jai Inder Singh as SDM of Phillaur, and Virpal Kaur as SDM of Fazilka and RTO. Several officers have been assigned dual roles, such as Harpreet Singh Atwal in Barnala and Manjeet Kaur in Bhawanigarh and Dirba.
The reshuffle spans PCS batches from 2020 to 2025, with new postings for officers like Harnoor Kaur Dhillon (Batala), Puneet Sharma (Bathinda), and Irwan Kour (Kapurthala). Officers from the 2023 and 2024 batches have also been placed in prominent roles, while the 2025 batch have seen widespread appointments as Chief Minister’s Field Officers across various districts.
The government stated the administrative restructuring is part of its broader plan to strengthen governance and field-level coordination, prompting the cancellation of all police leaves to ensure heightened preparedness during the transition.
