The Union government has removed Puja Khedkar, a controversial IAS probationer, from the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) weeks after the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) canceled her provisional selection. Khedkar faces serious allegations of cheating and misusing benefits under the Other Backward Classes (OBC) and disability quotas.
According to sources, her removal was made under Rule 12 of the IAS (Probation) Rules, 1954, which permits the central government to discharge probationers who fail to pass a re-examination or are deemed ineligible or unsuitable for the Service.
Puja Khedkar’s legal issues surfaced when she was accused of misrepresenting information to secure reservation benefits for the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2022. Both the UPSC and Delhi Police allege she submitted forged disability certificates, using two different documents for the 2022 and 2023 exams.
