Prime Minister Modi claimed that a large-scale conspiracy is being orchestrated to alter the identity of Jharkhand.

During a rally in Sarath, Deoghar district, on Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized that infiltration remains the most critical election issue in Jharkhand. He claimed that the tribal population in the Santhal region has been cut in half and called upon Jharkhand’s citizens to safeguard their tribal communities.

“Wherever I’ve traveled in Jharkhand, the primary concern has been infiltration…According to the available data, the tribal population in Santhal has significantly declined. We must protect our tribal families and every Jharkhandi from this,” Modi urged.

These remarks were made amid ongoing voting in 43 of the 81 constituencies as part of the first phase of the Jharkhand assembly elections, which are being held on November 13 and 20, with results expected on November 23. Modi further alleged that a “massive conspiracy” is underway to alter Jharkhand’s identity. He blamed the ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM)-Congress government for granting permanent residency to infiltrators in the state.

“The JMM-Congress administration took steps to establish these infiltrators as permanent residents. They have taken away your jobs and livelihoods. The JMM government itself admitted in court to the issue of infiltration,” Modi remarked, according to ANI. He stated that safeguarding “roti, beti, and maati” is the key issue in this election and assured that the BJP would defend these values. Modi also accused Congress of disrespecting tribal communities and attempting to dismantle reservations for Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC).

“When the BJP decided to nominate a tribal daughter as the President of India, Congress tried its best to defeat her. Even today, they insult President Murmu,” Modi stated, as reported by ANI. He continued, “Congress has harmful intentions, and their’shehzada’ has clearly signaled an end to reservations for SC/ST and OBCs.”
