While addressing the Rajya Sabha on Thursday during the debate on the Motion of Thanks to the President’s Address, Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticised the Congress party for its alleged mistreatment of BR Ambedkar. He claimed that the party’s disdain for the social reformer was supported by documented evidence. “Congress’s dislike for Babasaheb is well-documented. Whatever he said used to provoke and antagonise them,” PM Modi stated.
Highlighting historical grievances, he added, “We shouldn’t just delve into history because I’m bringing it up. The way Congress treated BR Ambedkar, their deep dislike for him, is evident. They left no stone unturned to ensure his defeat in elections because they couldn’t tolerate him. They even refused to consider him worthy of the Bharat Ratna.”
Further criticising the Congress party’s political ideology, PM Modi remarked, “‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ is beyond Congress’s understanding. We believe in inclusive development, ensuring everyone is on board, and that’s why the nation has entrusted us with this responsibility.”
Taking a direct jab at Congress, he said, “Expecting ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ from Congress is a mistake. Their politics revolves around dynasty and appeasement, leaving no room for true inclusive development. Their model blends fake narratives, favouritism, and family-first politics, which are evident in their policies, methods, speeches, and actions.”
