PM Modi: First Indian PM to Visit Austria in 41 Years
PM Modi visit to Austria in 41 years became a historic event for Indians.
PM Modi is the first Indian Prime Minister to visit Austria on July 9–10, 2024, since Indira Gandhi visited in 1983, marking a significant milestone. Welcomed by Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen and Chancellor Karl Nehammer in Austria, a choir sang India’s national song, “Vande Matram.”. The visit celebrated 75 years of diplomatic relations between the two nations.
During his stay in Vienna, they discuss deepening bilateral relations, exploring new avenues of cooperation, and various regional and global issues of mutual interest, aiming to strengthen their partnership further. Both leaders will also address business communities from India and Austria. PM Modi interacts with the members of the Indian community in Vienna, Austrian CEOs, and an Indian business delegation.
During his visit, PM Modi emphasized the shared values of democracy, freedom, and the rule of law that bind India and Austria. The India-Austria friendship is strong and will get even stronger in the times to come, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said ahead of his official meeting with Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer on July 10.
