At least seven people were injured in a train collision last night in Tamil Nadu when the Mysuru-Darbhanga Express crashed into a stationary goods train at Kavarapettai. The passenger train mistakenly entered a loop line instead of the main line around 8:30 p.m. on Friday, leading to a severe collision that caused 12 bogies to derail. One passenger described the confusion, saying that after a loud noise, no one understood what had happened until they realized the train had overturned.
“Some coaches caught fire, and others derailed. We quickly made our way to a nearby local station. We are safe and unharmed,” the passenger told PTI.
Thankfully, no fatalities were reported. However, seven passengers were injured, with three seriously hurt and admitted to Stanley Medical College Hospital, while four were treated at Government Hospital in Ponneri.
The train had over 1,300 passengers on board, and all but the injured continued their journey to Darbhanga on a special train the next day.
