Pakistani Actor Tauqeer Nasir Claims SRK Copied His Role in ‘Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna’; Karan Johar Responds
Pak Actor Tauqeer Nasir alleged SRK copied his role in ‘Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna’; Karan Johar said, “If I could make this film again, I would correct it”
Tauqeer Nasir, a Pakistani veteran actor who worked in TV shows and was the director-general of the Pakistan National Council of Arts, recently, while talking on the ‘Zabardast with Wasi Shah’ YouTube channel, claimed that actor Shah Rukh Khan copied his actions in ‘Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna,’ which was directed and released by Karan Johar in 2006. In the movie, SRK played a character named Dev Saran in Karan Johar’s film KANK (Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna). Tauqeer Nasir, while speaking on the YouTube channel, alleged that a short character he played in KANK connects in the same way with a Pakistani drama serial ‘Parwaaz’.
Speaking in the talk, Tauqeer Nasir revealed, “Meri ek movie Shah Rukh Khan ne ki hai.. woh Parwaaz Drama ka sara character isne as it is kiya. Which I appreciate but usko credit dena chahiye tha Karan Johar ko dena chahiye tha (there was one of my movies that Shah Rukh Khan did. That character was as it is done from Parwaaz serial. Which I appreciate, but he should have given credit. Karan Johar should have given.)”
Tauqeer Nasir added more about the special role that SRK copied from his serial, “Usme bakayda langda hai aur wohi right leg in the same way..complex thi role. A complex young boy who had two options. One jo usko pasand hai aur dusra jo isko pasand karta hai. Na usko convey kar saka na isko mana kar saka. Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna usko thoda filmy way mein dikhaya… lekin woh saari feel wahi hai. Unka banta hai that they should acknowledge (He limps in the same way. The role was complex. He had two options, one that he liked and the second who liked him. KANK was portrayed in a filmy way, but those feelings are the same. They should have acknowledged it.)”
Karan Johar’s film Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna was the most liked and a masterpiece movie in 2006. Although Karan said that more things could be corrected or changed in the film. In his interview with ‘The Week,’ Karan Johar discussed the reflection of the film.
According to Karan Johar, the film did not emerge as he hoped. Karan acknowledged that making a film with intimate subjects was a mistake. Adding more about the changes in the movie, he said, “If I could make this film again, I would correct it.” He also said that the film should have been wrapped up properly.
