On Monday, the Afghanistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the closure of the Torkham Border by Pakistan is unjustifiable for many reasons. It goes against all previous agreements and regulations.

The border has been closed due to an incident where the Pakistan army fired upon security forces who were carrying out repairs on a post. The Taliban Government expressed concern about distrust over the decision of the Pakistani government to stop hundreds of containers of Afghan goods at Karachi Post.

Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, said in response that the incident was related to the construction of a structure by the Taliban-led Afghan administration inside Pakistani territory, which violated its sovereignty.

The Taliban’s decision has resulted in financial losses and created divisions, including women, children, and patients, and the arrival of Afghan agricultural products and fruits, which goes against the agreements and commitments under international law. Pakistan has concerns about rising militant attacks and has called on Taliban authorities to prevent Afghan territory from being used to launch attacks against other nations.

The complex relationship between Afghanistan and Pakistan has been characterized by both cooperation and tension over the years while also facing challenges from various militant groups operating in the region. It involves diplomatic negotiations between two countries with stakeholders to promote stability and security in the region. This reflects the ongoing dialogue and tension surrounding the region.
