Operation Bhediya: 4 Wolves Captured, 2 Still at Large After UP Attacks

As part of “Operation Bhediya,” the Bahraich forest department used drone cameras and thermal mapping technology to locate and capture the wolves.
After eight people were killed and at least 15 others injured in Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh, the district forest department launched “Operation Bhediya” to capture the wolves responsible for the attacks. So far, four wolves have been caught, with officials confirming that two more are still at large, and efforts are ongoing to capture them.
On Thursday, forest officials captured one wolf and transferred it to a shelter. “There has been a long-standing fear of wolves in the area… Today we caught a wolf… We will transfer it to the zoo… So far, 4 wolves have been captured. Two remain, and preparations are being made to catch them,” said Renu Singh, Chief Forest Conservator of the Central Zone, as quoted by ANI. A video shared by ANI, sourced from the Bahraich forest department, shows the captured wolf being moved to the shelter.
