Noida Police Dismantle Purse-Snatching Gang; Four Women Arrested
Noida: Police have busted a gang of female purse-snatchers who had been involved in thefts for several years, arresting four women in the process.
According to authorities, the suspects targeted women in markets and public spaces, striking when their victims appeared distracted or off guard. They would steal purses and jewellery before passing the stolen items to accomplices to evade capture.
The suspects, identified as Meena (26), Sunita (19), Radha (30), and Geeta (50), all hail from Faridabad and were apprehended by the Phase 2 police, Central Noida Deputy Commissioner of Police Shakti Mohan Avasthy confirmed on Friday.
Recovered from their possession were four gold chains, two pairs of anklets, ₹15,000 in cash, four Aadhaar cards, and one PAN card.
DCP Avasthy noted that the women had been engaged in such activities for years, with Radha already implicated in a 2023 case. After accumulating stolen jewellery, the gang would retreat to Faridabad to sell their loot.
