Nikki Haley, an Indian-American Republican running for president in November, stated that “adding more friends” was crucial and that, should she win, she will fortify her alliances with countries like India.

Nikki Haley, an Indian-American Republican running for president in November 2024, has stated that her government will fortify ties not only with NATO but also with a number of other nations, including Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, and the Philippines. “America having more friends, not fewer friends,” she declared, was the purpose of this.

Former US Ambassador to the UN Haley, 52, stated that a threat to the NATO alliance will arise if former US President Donald Trump is re-elected.

“If Trump wins reelection, a lot of things worry me. That is among them,” she said to ABC News, citing NATO’s seventy-five-year history of achievement.

In the fight for the Republican Party’s 2024 presidential candidature, Haley is the sole remaining contender facing Trump. Russia has never invaded a nation that is a member of NATO, according to the two-term former governor of South Carolina, since this alliance has historically greatly terrified Russia.

With two members in North America and 29 in Europe, NATO is an intergovernmental military alliance.

This alliance intimidates even China. Thus, maintaining NATO’s strength is crucial, according to Haley.

Haley was answering a question regarding Trump’s statements made in South Carolina a week prior, in which he said he would support Russia in doing “whatever the hell they want” to any NATO member nation that doesn’t adhere to spending caps on defense.

It’s critical to include additional friends in the fold. The moment is not right to break off an alliance. According to Haley, now is not the moment to support friends who remained loyal to America in the wake of the September 11 attacks, and instead, support a thug.

“We must ensure that we maintain our position. Because when we stick by our friends, our adversaries follow closely after. Our enemy moves when we begin to show any signs of eroding such connections. China is on the march because of this. That explains Iran’s desire to develop a nuclear weapon. Because of this, Russia is beginning to approach Poland and the Baltic states,” the speaker stated.

“And as president, I swear to reinforce not just NATO but also our partnerships with the Philippines, South Korea, Japan, Australia, and India. We intend to expand the fold.” To a question, Haley replied, “This is about America having more friends, not fewer friends.”

Haley referred to Trump’s remarks at NATO as “bone-chilling” and said they gave Russian President Vladimir Putin more influence.

“And that’s all he did right then and there—he took the side of a murderer of his political rivals and a thug who kidnaps and holds hostage American journalists,” the woman claimed. Haley claimed that Democratic incumbent President Joe Biden had also failed miserably on several fronts.

“That has emboldened our enemies. That’s why you see them moving. It happened after the fall of Afghanistan. It is continuing to happen. Then they go, and they see the other opponent running for president, and they see that he doesn’t worry about Putin invading Ukraine. So, what does Putin do? He is going, and now he’s starting to put soldiers around the Baltics. He’s moving in for the next era. Let’s remind the American people that Putin said once he took Ukraine, Poland and the Baltics are next. Now he is putting soldiers around those countries, just like he did in Ukraine. And if that happens, those are NATO countries. That immediately puts America at war. That is what we are trying to avoid. And that’s why this aid package is so important,” she added.
