Nargis Fakhri’s Sister, Aliya, Arrested in New York for Allegedly Killing Her Ex-boyfriend by Setting a Garage on Fire
Attorney stated that 43-year-old Aliya Fakhri “intentionally” ignited a fire in a two-story garage, resulting in the death of her 35-year-old ex-boyfriend, Edward Jacobs.
Bollywood actor Nargis Fakhri’s sister, Aliya Fakhri, has reportedly been arrested in connection with the murder of her ex-boyfriend and his friend in Queens, New York, last month. According to a press release from District Attorney Melinda Katz, 43-year-old Aliya Fakhri “deliberately” set fire to a detached garage, leading to the deaths of her ex-boyfriend Edward Jacobs, 35, and his friend Anastasia Ettienne, 33.
On November 2, Fakhri allegedly arrived at the garage early in the morning, yelling, “You’re all going to die today,” at Jacobs, who was sleeping upstairs. Shortly after, a witness heard her shouting and discovered the building was on fire. Ettienne, alerted by the flames, initially went downstairs but returned to rescue Jacobs. Tragically, both victims succumbed to smoke inhalation and thermal injuries, as confirmed by the press release.
Fakhri, who lived in Queens’ Parsons Boulevard, faces serious charges, including four counts of first-degree murder, four counts of second-degree murder, and arson. If convicted on the top charge, she could face a maximum sentence of life imprisonment. “This defendant maliciously ended the lives of two people by setting a fire that trapped them in a raging inferno. Our condolences go to the families of Edward Jacobs and Anastasia Ettienne,” District Attorney Katz stated.
The incident occurred at a two-story garage on 91st Avenue, where Jacobs lived upstairs. The building was engulfed in flames before either victim could escape.
Aliya Fakhri’s mother expressed disbelief, stating she could never imagine her daughter committing such an act. According to reports, her mother described Aliya as a compassionate individual who cared for others but revealed she had struggled with opioid addiction following a dental procedure, which may have influenced her behavior.
