Soldiers Get Legal Lifeline: Govt Launches Scheme to Support Families

The Indian government has launched a groundbreaking scheme to provide proactive legal assistance to the families of soldiers serving in the armed forces. The NALSA Veer Parivar Sahayata Yojana 2025 aims to ease the domestic legal burdens of soldiers deployed in harsh terrains and far-flung regions.
Key Features of the Scheme:
- Proactive Legal Assistance: The scheme will provide legal support to families of soldiers, ensuring their cases are properly represented in courts across the country.
- Coverage: The support will extend to paramilitary personnel, including those from the Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), and others serving in isolated and high-risk conditions.
- Objective: To relieve soldiers from domestic legal burdens, allowing them to focus on their duties without worrying about their families’ legal issues.
Launch and Implementation:
- Launch Event: The scheme was formally launched at a conference in Srinagar by Justice Surya Kant, Executive Chairman of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) and the next Chief Justice of India.
- Attendees: The launch event was attended by Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, and Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
