Muzaffarnagar: A woman from Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar has been accused of attempting to kill her husband by poisoning his coffee, police reported on Friday.
The victim is currently receiving treatment at a hospital, while his sister has lodged a complaint against the accused at Khatauli police station, prompting an official investigation.
According to the complaint, Anuj, the victim, married Sana, a resident of Farrukhabad, two years ago. However, tensions arose between the couple just two months after their wedding, leading to frequent arguments. The complainant further alleged that Sana harassed both her husband and in-laws.
The report claims that Anuj had asked Sana to avoid interacting with other men, which led to a heated dispute. Allegedly, in response, Sana devised a plan to poison her husband. On Tuesday, she reportedly spiked Anuj’s coffee with poison, causing his health to deteriorate immediately after taking a sip. His family rushed him to a private hospital in Meerut, where he remains in critical condition.
Circle Officer (CO) Khatauli, Ram Ashish Yadav, confirmed that a case has been registered against Sana under relevant legal provisions. “The investigation is ongoing, and further action will be taken once the victim regains consciousness,” Yadav stated.
This incident has emerged amid ongoing national shock over the brutal murder of a Meerut-based merchant navy officer, allegedly carried out by his wife and her lover.
