Mumbai Terror Blasts Mastermind, Dawood Ibrahim, Hospitalised
According to recent media reports, Dawood Ibrahim, one of India’s most wanted terrorists, has been admitted to a hospital in Pakistan’s Karachi. It is being speculated that poisoning led to his hospitalization, but no official confirmation has yet been received in this regard.
Dawood Ibrahim is believed to be the mastermind behind the 1993 Mumbai terror blasts, which left 250 people dead and thousands injured. India has repeatedly accused its neighbor, Pakistan, of harboring this fugitive, but the latter has always refuted such allegations. However, Pakistan unwittingly admitted his presence in the country in 2020 when it submitted a list to the global anti-terrorist funding and money-laundering body, Financial Action Task Force (FATF), with his name on it.
He has been designated as a ‘Global terrorist’ by the United Nations under UNSC Resolution 1267. Additionally, India has also designated him as an ‘individual terrorist’ under the fourth schedule of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA), 1967. According to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), Dawood runs an international terrorist network called ‘D Company,’ which was established by him in Mumbai in the 1970s. This syndicate is supposedly involved in several criminal and terrorist activities, including arms smuggling, narco-terrorism, and money laundering.
This is not the first time that rumors surrounding his health or death have surfaced. Earlier, in 2017, there were reports that he died of a ‘heart attack,’ while others said that his health was deteriorating due to a ‘brain tumor.’ These reports later turned out to be false. Similarly, in 2020, he was rumored to have been suffering from ‘Covid-19.’ However, the members of his group have always maintained that the underworld don is in good health.
