Mumbai Horror: Woman and Teen Lover Arrested for Rape and Murder of Her Toddler

Mumbai: A 30-year-old woman and her 19-year-old boyfriend have been arrested in Mumbai’s Malvani area for the alleged rape and murder of her two-and-a-half-year-old daughter. Police revealed on Monday that the crime occurred in Malvani, where the teenage suspect reportedly assaulted and killed the child in the mother’s presence.
Authorities were alerted after the girl’s death at a hospital, where doctors confirmed she died of asphyxia-induced shock and had been sexually assaulted.
Following a preliminary probe, the mother and her boyfriend were booked under multiple sections of the POCSO Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Charges include Sections 70, 64, 65(2), 66, 103, 238, and 3(5) of the BNS, along with Sections 6, 10, and 21 of the POCSO Act. Investigations are ongoing.
In another incident, a 25-year-old man from Navi Mumbai was accused of raping his neighbor on April 30.
The victim alleged that he lured her to his home under false pretences before assaulting her. A case has been filed under BNS Sections 64(1) (rape) and 351(1) (criminal intimidation), with further inquiries underway.
