Six days after a man streamed his suicide, MP police arrested his wife and mother-in-law on Friday for allegedly abetting the act, according to reports. The 27-year-old man had broadcast his death on a social media platform from his home in Mehra village, Rewa district, on March 16. He was later found hanging after accusing his wife and mother-in-law of destroying his home in his final video.
During the investigation, Sirmour police discovered that one of the accounts viewing the live video belonged to his wife. However, the 24-year-old woman claimed she watched the video later, after her husband’s death. Following the registration of an unnatural death case, police arrested the wife and mother-in-law for abetment of suicide.
Sirmour police station in charge, JP Patel, told TOI that the man worked as a priest in Wardha, Gujarat, but returned home six months ago after a leg injury from an accident. The couple, married for a few years and parents to a six-month-old child, often argued. At the time of his death, his wife was staying with her mother.
On the day of the incident, the man had visited his mother-in-law’s house to bring his wife back but returned alone after a fight. He then went on to livestream his suicide.
