Mother of the Feuding Lodha Brothers Appeals to Them to Settle Their Intense Conflict

Manju Lodha, mother of real estate tycoons Abhishek and Abhinandan Lodha, has urged her sons to put an end to their ongoing dispute and honor the family agreement signed in March 2017. Abhishek Lodha, who leads Macrotech Developers, and Abhinandan Lodha, chairman of the House of Abhinandan Lodha, are currently engaged in a legal battle over the use of the ‘Lodha’ trademark and the division of family assets, with the matter presently in mediation.

In a letter dated February 21, Manju Lodha made an emotional appeal, urging both brothers to “stop all disputes immediately.” She and her husband, Mangal P. Lodha, had thoroughly discussed both sons’ claims regarding ownership and shareholding in each other’s businesses. She reiterated that, as per the revised family agreement of March 31, 2017, neither brother has any claim over the other’s business, assets, or shareholding. Calling for an end to hostilities, she advised them not to engage in conflicts or make negative statements about each other. “You have no rights over each other’s business or shareholding. Neither of you owes anything to the other. Do not interfere in each other’s business. End all disputes, respect one another, and strive to support each other,” she emphasised.

In her heartfelt message, Manju Lodha also reflected on their childhood, promising to leave behind whatever she has for both of them. She expressed hope that they would redirect their energy toward growing their respective businesses and taking care of their families. The dispute between the billionaire brothers gained attention after Macrotech Developers, led by Abhishek Lodha, filed a ₹5,000 crore lawsuit against the House of Abhinandan Lodha (HoABL), accusing it of unlawfully using the ‘Lodha’ brand name. HoABL is a part of Lodha Ventures, founded by Abhinandan after he exited Macrotech Developers (formerly Lodha Developers).

Responding to the letter, Abhishek Lodha affirmed his commitment to his mother’s wishes, stating, “I respect my mother’s letter and will abide by it. The 2017 agreement clearly outlines that the Lodha real estate business and its intellectual property, including the trade name ‘Lodha,’ belong exclusively to Macrotech/Lodha Developers. I wish my younger brother success in his business and hope he implements the agreement by adopting a distinct identity to prevent any confusion with our well-established brand.” Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Abhinandan Lodha expressed disappointment over the letter being shared publicly, suggesting it was done for ulterior motives. “Mr. Abhinandan Lodha has always believed that family matters should remain private, which is why he has maintained a dignified silence for over a decade. He hopes his family fulfills all commitments made to him. Since the matter is under mediation, we will refrain from further comment,” the spokesperson added.
