A 24-year-old woman tragically lost her life in a roller coaster accident at a well-known amusement park on the outskirts of Delhi, just months before her upcoming wedding. The deceased, identified as Priyanka, had gone to the Fun n Food Water Park near Kapashera in South West Delhi with her fiancé on Thursday when a mechanical failure led to her fatal fall.

Police reports state that Priyanka and her fiancé, Nikhil, were enjoying a day out at the water and amusement park when disaster struck. A roller coaster’s structural support reportedly collapsed while they were on the ride. Seated on a swing-like segment, Priyanka fell from a significant height after the stand gave way. She suffered grave injuries and was immediately taken to the hospital by Nikhil, but she succumbed to her injuries.

Priyanka had been engaged since January 2023, and her wedding was set for February 2026. According to her family, she had chosen to focus on achieving financial stability before settling down. She worked as a sales manager for a private telecom firm in Noida and had expressed her intention to contribute to her family’s well-being before marrying Nikhil.

Her family, based in Chanakyapuri, had supported her decision to postpone the wedding, as did Nikhil, who lives in Najafgarh. Her brother, Mohit, mentioned that the couple shared a close and understanding bond. Police noted that the couple arrived at the amusement park around 1 p.m., spent the afternoon on water rides, and later moved to the amusement section. Around 6:15 p.m., they boarded the ill-fated roller coaster.

According to Nikhil’s statement to the police, the accident happened when the swing reached its peak and a support beam snapped, causing Priyanka to fall. The impact left her with multiple serious injuries, including a deep cut on her right leg, a puncture wound on the left, and additional trauma to her forearm and knee.

The police visited the hospital to collect her medical records and later handed her body to the family following a post-mortem examination. An FIR has been filed under Sections 289 (negligent conduct with respect to animals or machinery) and 106 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder by negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the newly introduced criminal code replacing the IPC.

As of now, Fun n Food Village has neither released an official statement nor responded to media inquiries. The area of the park where the incident occurred has been temporarily closed.
