Badlapur, Thane: A mob of around 50-100 people vandalized the house of the 24-year-old accused in the sexual assault case of two four-year-old girls in a private school in Badlapur on Tuesday. The accused, a cleaning staff member at the school, was in police custody when the incident occurred.

According to neighbors, the mob, comprising mostly young men, barged into the accused’s rented house near the Gamdevi temple in Kharvayi village and attacked his family members, breaking furniture and injuring relatives who lived in the vicinity. The accused’s wife had reportedly left him after he got the job at the school through a reference from someone in the management.

The incident sparked widespread outrage, with hundreds of people protesting against the incident at the Badlapur railway station and outside the school. However, no FIR has been registered in the case yet, and senior police officials were unavailable for comment.

On Wednesday, three policemen were posted at the location to prevent further violence. The families of the accused and his relatives were forced to lock their houses and leave the area due to the mob’s attack.

The incident raises concerns about vigilantism and the need for authorities to ensure public safety and prevent such violent outbursts.
