Midnight Chaos in Chandigarh's Dadumajra Colony: 6 Youths Booked for Stone Pelting, Threats

Chandigarh Police have registered a case against six youths for blocking roads, pelting stones, and threatening bystanders in Dadumajra Colony on Tuesday night. The accused, identified as Subhash, Ankit, Nikki, Sahil, Haseen, and Batti, were involved in a brazen incident that left a woman, Rani Devi, injured.

According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred around 11:35 p.m. when constables Ashish and Vijay spotted the youths creating a public obstruction by parking their motorcycles on the road and hurling stones at passersby. “Upon seeing the police, the boys started shouting and issued threats before fleeing the spot on their motorcycles,” Constable Ashish stated in his complaint.

The situation escalated when the police encountered the same group again near Sheetla Mata Mandir in Sector 38-West around 12:10 a.m. The youths were seen waving sticks, rods, and pistol-like weapons, prompting the police to take action.

The Incident:

  • Stone Pelting: The youths hurled stones at passersby, injuring Rani Devi, who received medical treatment.
  • Threats: The boys issued threats to the police and bystanders.
  • Display of Weapons: The youths waved sticks, rods, and pistol-like weapons.

Charges:

  • Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS): Sections 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 126(2) (wrongful restraint), 351(2) (criminal intimidation), 191(2) (rioting), and 190 (every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offence committed in prosecution of common object).
  • Arms Act: Sections 25, 27, 54, and 59.

The police are currently investigating the matter, and no arrests have been made so far.
