Meryl Streep became the most nominated actor in the history of the Golden Globes this week. She broke her own record to become the only actor who has been nominated 33 times for the Golden Globe in her career.

The Golden Globe Awards are an annual awards ceremony that honors artists for outstanding achievements in film and television. It is presented by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) and is considered one of the most esteemed awards in the entertainment industry.

The Golden Globes announced the list of nominees for its 81st award ceremony this year. Meryl managed to secure another nomination for the ‘best performance by a supporting female actor’ for her role in Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building. The series has been co-created by Steve Martin and John Hoffman and stars Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez alongside Meryl.

In this series, she plays the role of Loretta Durkin, an actor who, having starred in a musical by Oliver Putnam, goes on to become his love interest. She will be competing in this category at the awards against Elizabeth Debicki for ‘The Crown,’ Abby Elliott for ‘The Bear,’ Christina Ricci for ‘Yellowjackets,’ J. Smith-Cameron for ‘Succession,’ and Hannah Waddingham for ‘Ted Lasso.’

In her long career, Meryl has undertaken several acting projects in both films and television. Streep’s journey at the Golden Globes began in 1978 when she was nominated for her performance in the film ‘The Deer Hunter.’ However, her winning at the Globes began with her film ‘Kramer vs. Kramer.’ Over the years, she has gone on to win more awards at the Golden Globes for films like The French Lieutenant’s Woman, Sophie’s Choice, Adaptation, The Devil Wears Prada, Julie & Julia, and The Iron Lady. Her fourth Golden Globe victory was for her role in the acclaimed television miniseries ‘Angels in America.’ In 2017, the Golden Globes honored her with the esteemed Cecil B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement in her art.

Meryl Streep’s achievements have been recognized not only by the Golden Globes but also by the Academy Awards. She has been nominated 21 times for the Academy Awards and has gone on to win an Oscar three times. Her wins include Best Supporting Actress for “Kramer vs. Kramer” and Best Actress for both “Sophie’s Choice” and “The Iron Lady.”

Throughout her whole career, Meryl Streep has solidified her position as one of the greatest actresses of all time. Her incredible acting range and ability to completely immerse herself in any role have captivated her fans for years. Everyone is now eager to see if Streep will be able to win the Golden Globe, which will be on January 7, 2024, at the Beverly Hilton.
