Meerut: Muslim Student Denied Entry into Classroom at Khalsa College

Meerut: A fresh controversy has surfaced in Uttar Pradesh after a video from Khalsa Girls Inter College in Meerut went viral, showing a Muslim student claiming she was barred from entering her classroom for wearing a hijab.
In the viral footage, the student is seen explaining to a teacher that she was stopped at the entrance and asked to remove her hijab to be allowed inside. “I am being told to take off my hijab before entering the classroom. This is unjust. I have been attending this college for years wearing the hijab,” she says in the video. The incident has sparked widespread backlash from Muslim groups and netizens.
The student later approached the college manager’s office to share her experience, where a female staff member allegedly repeated the demand to remove her hijab.
Following the uproar, the college administration dismissed the accusations, stating that Muslim students have always been welcomed and have never faced discrimination on campus. Despite this, the student stood by her claims, accusing the institution of humiliating her for following her religious practice.
The incident has drawn strong reactions from activists, legal experts, and Muslim organizations, who condemned the act and raised concerns about growing hostility toward Muslim identity in educational institutions.
Renowned legal scholar Faizan Mustafa commented on X, saying, “Hijab is not a crime. Stopping a girl from attending school for wearing a hijab is nothing short of educational apartheid.”
