The five-year-old daughter of a Meerut woman, who allegedly murdered her husband with the help of her lover, reportedly informed the neighbours that her father was inside the drum. This revelation was shared by the victim, Saurabh Rajput’s mother.
The woman from Meerut, accused of murdering her husband with her lover’s help, attempted to mislead the victim’s family by sending messages from his phone to make it appear he was still alive. According to chats accessed by India Today TV, Muskan Rastogi impersonated her husband, Saurabh Rajput, and exchanged texts with his sister, discussing plans to visit home for Holi and sharing festive greetings. However, days later, Saurabh’s sister grew suspicious after repeated calls to her brother went unanswered.
Meanwhile, Saurabh’s mother claimed that the couple’s five-year-old daughter sensed something was wrong. The child reportedly told neighbours, “Papa drum mein hain” (Papa is inside the drum). Saurabh’s mother told ANI that her granddaughter may have witnessed something and that was why she made such a statement. She also alleged that Muskan’s family was aware of the entire murder plot. According to her, Muskan’s family consulted a lawyer before reporting the crime to the police. “They informed the police… By the time Muskan reached her parents’ house, they already knew everything. Her mother tried to mislead the situation by claiming Muskan came to confess. But they had already consulted a lawyer and even approached the court,” Saurabh’s mother told ANI. She demanded strict punishment, saying Muskan’s family and her lover, Sahil, deserved the death penalty.
Police investigations revealed that Saurabh was last seen on March 4, the day of his alleged murder. That night, Muskan laced his food with sedatives to knock him unconscious. She then called her lover, Sahil Shukla, and together they attacked Saurabh—stabbing him in the chest with a butcher’s knife and slitting his throat. To dispose of the body, they severed his hands and purchased a large plastic drum, cement, and sand the next day. They stuffed the body inside the drum, sealed it, and hid it in their home. After committing the crime, Muskan and Sahil left for a trip to a hill station. Before leaving, Muskan locked the house and informed the neighbours she was going on a trip to Himachal Pradesh with her husband. During this time, she continued sending fake messages from Saurabh’s phone to his sister to avoid suspicion.
The murder came to light when Muskan’s mother eventually approached the police and revealed her daughter’s confession. Under interrogation, both Muskan and Sahil admitted to the crime.
Saurabh, who had recently returned from London, had told his family he was employed in the Merchant Navy, but police found out he actually worked in a bakery in London. Saurabh and Muskan, who had a love marriage in 2016, had been living with their daughter in a rented house for three years. Muskan’s father, Pramod Rastogi, told India Today TV that his daughter killed Saurabh because he opposed her drug habit. He claimed that Sahil introduced Muskan to drugs when their affair began. “She told me she couldn’t live without drugs,” he said, adding that Muskan deserved capital punishment for her actions.
