Mbappé Leads Real Madrid to UEFA Super Cup Victory: Beginning of a New Era?

Real Madrid defeated Atalanta 2-0 to conquer the UEFA Super Cup for the sixth time in an extravagant football spectacle. It shall be on the rising Kylian Mbappé, who justified all the pre-match hype with the most-awaited debut ever, contesting it jam-packed in a stadium after securing his transfer to Los Blancos.
Although Real Madrid put pressure on Atalanta from the very beginning of this keenly anticipated game, holding possession and dictating the tempo, Atalanta managed to hold up—through most of the first half at least—the attacks of the Spanish powerhouses renowned for their block. But in the 35th minute, the magic of Mbappé tore apart the balance.
The French sensation proved this summer that he is one of the best players in the world with a dramatic move to Real Madrid from Paris Saint-Germain. Set free by Luka Modrić in a counter-attack, Mbappé gave the ‘keeper the eyes and found the net with his left after putting the Atalanta defense to the sword with his hallmark searing pace. That goal shows he finished precisely and has great composure under pressure.
Atalanta’s stride was never really gathered with respect to the Real Madrid consistency they faced, hence challenging their very capability to create clear chances. The strong defense assured by the Spanish team, with David Alaba and Antonio Rüdiger key, ensured that the attacking threats from Atalanta were at bay.
The second would always be for Real Madrid; it was the 68th minute. This time, Vinícius Júnior received the ball after a defensive error by Atalanta. Receiving the loose ball inside the box, the young Brazilian—who has been influential of late—coolly slotted the ball home to double the advantage for Real Madrid.
Obviously, the whole team worked pretty well, but Kylian Mbappé was the most outstanding of them all. He scored in his debut, but more than that, he had the Atalanta defense worried with pace, dribbling, and creativity. For better or worse, a new cycle starts up at Real Madrid with Mbappé, and with this match as an example, it won’t be long from now that he’ll probably be the new face of Los Blancos. The Real side certified their place among the elite of European teams with a victory in the UEFA Super Cup.
Adding Mbappé to such an incredible side sets them on the path toward the domination phase that could have been in European football history. Building on this victory into the upcoming season, Real Madrid would want it to be spearheaded by Mbappé at the front. The win over Atalanta will only prove to be the start.
