The LA Times reported on Saturday that 54-year-old Matthew Perry, well-known for his work on the television sitcom “Friends,” was discovered dead in a hot tub at his Los Angeles home, citing law enforcement sources with knowledge of the event. Robbery-homicide investigators of the Los Angeles Police Department, the paper states, are looking into the death. After two hours of pickleball, Perry returned to his LA house and sent his assistant on an errand. When the helper returned in around two hours, Perry was still and unconscious in the Jacuzzi, according to TMZ. To get immediate help, he dialed 911.

Fans are shocked by the circumstances surrounding his passing. Matthew Perry had been transparent about his battles with addiction, especially when he was a cast member of “Friends.” Later on, he got help for his substance misuse problems and became an advocate for mental health awareness and addiction recovery. Reports, however, state that there is no sign of foul play and that no narcotics were found at the scene.

Matthew Perry is well-known for his memorable portrayal as Chandler Bing in the hit TV show “Friends.” The 1994–2004 television series became a cultural sensation, and Perry became well-known for portraying the charming and sarcastic Chandler. For his portrayal, he received praise from critics and was nominated for multiple awards during the run of the show.

Born to Canadian journalist Suzanne Morrison and actor John Bennett Perry, Matthew was brought up by his mother in Ottawa following his parents’ divorce, which occurred before he was even a year old. After graduating from Ashbury College, he went on to study in Sherman Oaks, California’s The Buckley School.

The actor talked candidly about his difficulties while filming the series. “It’s unhealthy to feel like you’re going to die if the live audience didn’t laugh.” However, Perry stated, “I would occasionally shiver and have convulsions when I would say a line, and the crowd would not laugh.” “I would lose my mind if I didn’t receive the expected chuckle. Every night I felt like that. I felt down because of this pressure. I was also aware of the six individuals producing that program; only one of them was ill.”

“Friends” was a big hit. I could not risk that. The script was fantastic. My co-actors were wonderful. “Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing,” his book, said, “I loved everything about the show, but I was struggling with my addictions, which only added to my sense of shame.” “I kept my secret from everyone.”

Many of his admirers around the world are still processing his sudden passing. Not only in Hollywood, but a number of his admirers in Bollywood have also sent their sympathies for Matthew Perry’s passing. The death of Matthew Perry is startling and saddening, as Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau tweeted early on Sunday, “Matthew Perry’s passing is shocking and saddening. I’ll never forget the schoolyard games we used to play, and I know people around the world are never going to forget the joy he brought them. Thanks for all the laughs, Matthew. You were loved – and you will be missed.”

Ranveer Singh posted a photo of Matthew along with a nazar amulet emoji, folded hands, and a white bird on his Instagram Stories. Along with him, Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani posted his photo with emoticons for a shattered heart on their individual Instagram Stories. On her Instagram Stories, Bipasha Basu posted a picture of Matthew that made her smile along with the words “RIP Matthew Perry” and a broken heart emoji.

Mira Sorvino, who co-starred with Matthew in the 1994 television film Parallel Lives, wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter), “Oh no!!! Matthew Perry!! You sweet, troubled soul!! May you find peace and happiness in Heaven, making everyone laugh with your singular wit!!!”. “Sending love to my friends @JeffreyKlarik & David Crane and his castmates,” tweeted actor-singer Sean Maguire. One of those actors who we all adored and respected was Matthew Perry; he was incredibly talented. Tranquilized that he was taken so quickly. Peace be with you, Matthew.
