India’s star shooter Manu Bhaker has missed out on a medal. She finished fourth in the women’s 25-meter pistol event. A total of 10 series of shots were to be fired in this competition. There were a total of five shots in a series. The elimination round started after three series. Manu stood fourth after eight series with a score of 28. That means 28 of Manu’s shots out of 40 went green. The rest did not hit the target.

In the eighth series, a battle was between her and the fourth-ranked Veronika Major of Hungary. In this series, Manu missed three shots, while Veronica missed two shots and three shots hit the target and got ahead of Manu. In this way, Manu missed the medal. Veronica captured bronze. Jin Yang of South Korea won the gold medal and Camille of France won the silver medal. After 10 series the score of both was 37-37. Then there was a shootout between the two, in which Jin fired four shots at the target, while Camille’s only shot hit the target.

Manu Bhaker finished fourth in the women’s 25-meter pistol event with 28 shots. In 8 series, Manu made 5 out of 5 shots only once. She made 28 shots out of 40. With this, her dream of scoring a hat-trick of medals in the Paris Olympics remained unfulfilled.

Manu had earlier won a bronze medal in the individual 10-meter air pistol and mixed event along with Sarabjot Singh. She is the first Indian to win two medals in the same Olympics

This outcome, while disheartening, does not overshadow her impressive performance throughout the Games. Bhaker’s two bronze medals remain a testament to her talent and determination, and she continues to be a significant figure in Indian Sports.
