Bijnor: A 30-year-old man was found hanging in his home in Hasanpur, Amroha, on Monday, with his family suspecting foul play. Following their complaint, an FIR was filed against his wife and two others for abetment to suicide.

The incident occurred after the victim, Sheeshpal, a contractual labourer in Punjab, confronted his wife, Santosh Devi (28), over her alleged affair with Rajendra Kumar (35), a former village head. According to family members, when Sheeshpal objected, Santosh, Rajendra, and his friend Buddhan publicly assaulted him on Sunday.

Sheeshpal’s brother, Harkesh Singh, stated, “Sheeshpal married Santosh eight years ago, and they have three children. While he worked in a factory in Punjab, Santosh stayed in the village, where she got involved with Rajendra. My brother returned five days ago and confronted them. On Sunday, he was beaten by Santosh, Rajendra, and Buddhan. Later, we found his body hanging inside the house. He was murdered, and the accused must be arrested.”

Hasanpur Circle Officer Deep Kumar Pant said, “Prima facie, the case appears to be suicide. However, a postmortem has been conducted to determine the exact cause of death. An FIR has been registered against Santosh, Rajendra, and Buddhan under Section 108 of BNS. Santosh and Rajendra have been detained for questioning.”
