A 28-year-old man sustained serious injuries after his neck was caught in the banned Chinese Manjha—a glass-coated kite string—while riding home on a bike with his uncle in Meerut. Mohd Yunus, a resident of Zakir Colony, required 25 stitches following the incident.
His uncle, Mohd Shaukeen, recounted that the accident occurred on Friday night as they were returning from a shopping mall. While passing through Hapur Road in Nauchandi, Yunus’s neck got entangled in the kite string, causing him to lose control of the bike.
Nauchandi SHO Ilam Singh stated, “No one has reported the incident yet. We will investigate if any information is received.”
This is not the first accident caused by the banned Chinese Manjha. In a similar case in Moradabad, a UP police constable from Amroha, Shahrukh Hasan (30), lost his life when his throat was slit by the string while riding his bike in Shahjahanpur. Despite wearing a helmet, the sharp string wrapped around his neck, resulting in his instant death.
Another tragic incident involved a 7-year-old child in Raipur, who succumbed to severe injuries after being struck by the kite string while riding on a bike with his father.
