Bengaluru: A 27-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly operating an Instagram account that posted photos and videos of women commuting on the Bengaluru Metro without their consent.

The arrest followed an FIR registered on Wednesday after the account named Bangalore Metro Clicks (@metro_chicks) was flagged online. The accused, identified as Diganth from Hassan, Karnataka, was residing in Bengaluru’s Thigalarapalya area.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Lokesh B. Jagalasar, Diganth works in the accounts department of a private firm in Murugeshpalya and captured the content during his daily commute. “He was taking pictures and videos while traveling to and from work,” Jagalasar said.

Authorities are currently questioning him about the platforms he used to upload the content and whether he received any compensation. Investigations are also underway to determine if he acted alone or had accomplices.
The Instagram page featured multiple images and videos of women on metro trains and platforms, and had gathered over 5,000 followers. Police were alerted when a user on X (formerly Twitter) reported the account and tagged the Bengaluru Police.

After the FIR was filed, all content was removed and the account was subsequently taken down. Police confirmed that the women featured were unaware they were being filmed.
