A shocking incident occurred in Sangvi village of Renapur taluka in Maharashtra’s Latur district, where a 45-year-old man allegedly murdered his 70-year-old mother over a dispute concerning the sale of agricultural land. The man then took his own life.

- Dispute Over Farmland: The disagreement was about the sale of family farmland. The son, Baban Ghuge, wanted his mother, Laxmibai Ghuge, to sell the land to raise funds, but she refused.
- Murder and Burial: In a burst of rage, Baban allegedly strangled his mother to death and buried her body in a nearby sugarcane field.
- Discovery and Aftermath: Villagers discovered Laxmibai’s body after noticing freshly disturbed soil in the sugarcane field. Baban was found dead near his home, having apparently hanged himself from a tree.
Investigation and Response
- Case Registered: Renapur police registered a case and recovered both bodies for post-mortem examination.
- Funeral: The mother and son were cremated on the same funeral pyre in the presence of relatives and villagers.
