Earlier this month, a major accident was narrowly avoided when the Prayagraj-Bhiwani Kalindi Express struck an LPG cylinder placed on the tracks. “An attempt was made to derail the Kalindi Express by placing an LPG cylinder on the tracks. After receiving information, senior officers rushed to the scene and began an investigation. Forensics and the Railway Protection Force are also involved in the probe,” said a senior police official. The loco-pilot applied emergency brakes after spotting the object, and while the train hit the cylinder before stopping, the collision caused the cylinder to move off the tracks. A Molotov cocktail was also recovered at the scene.
