Lok Sabha Witnessed a Huge Security Reach on the Anniversary of the 2001 Parliament Attack
In a major security breach occurring on the anniversary of the 2001 Parliament attack, two men entered Lok Sabha on Wednesday and opened canisters that emitted yellow-coloured smoke.
Television footage showed them jumping from desk to desk and appeared to be headed towards the Well of the House. Members present inside the House told reporters later that the protesters were chanting slogans such as ‘tana shahi nahi chalegi‘ (dictatorship won’t be accepted). They have been detained.
Leader of Congress in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said: “Two young men jumped from the gallery, and something was hurled by them from which gas was emitting. They were caught by MPs, (and) they were brought out by security personnel. The House was adjourned till 2 pm. This is certainly a security breach.”
Many other parliamentarians have also commented on this breach of security, some of them have raised a voice on how these people were able to cross the high-security area without any police personnel checking them.
The Security Incharge will also look into the Khalistani angle in this matter, as days ago, Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun had released a video threatening to attack the new Parliament building on December 13 in response to a failed murder plot against him.
