Legal Victory: Shailesh Lodha Prevails Over Producer Asit Modi in Lawsuit

Shailesh Lodha, a prominent actor famous for his role in the popular TV show “Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma,” has emerged victorious in a lawsuit against the show’s producer, Asit Modi.
Lodha had played a significant role in the renowned TV series “Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma” for over 14 years. However, in 2022, he chose to leave the show without citing a specific reason. In his interviews, he had alluded to discussing the matter at the appropriate time.
Following months of escalating tensions between “Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma” (TMKOC) actor Shailesh Lodha and producer Asit Modi, there seems to be some legal intervention as Lodha has won a lawsuit against the show’s maker. There were rumors that the actor had criticized producer Asit Modi for not paying all his dues.
Subsequent to his departure from the show due to contractual complexities, Lodha took the matter to the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) seeking a resolution for his long-standing pending dues. The case was deliberated under section 9 of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, ultimately reaching an amicable settlement “as per the consent terms by the counsel for the parties.” Under this resolution, in compliance with legal claims, Asit Modi is obligated to issue a demand draft amounting to ₹1,05,84,000 to Shailesh Lodha.
In a recent interview, Shailesh Lodha said, “This fight was never about the money. It was about seeking justice and self-respect.” He further added, “I feel like I have won a battle, and I’m happy that the truth has prevailed.” He also mentioned that Asit Modi wanted Shailesh Lodha to sign papers to clear his dues, in which clauses like he cannot talk to the media and other things were included.
Shailesh Lodha’s actions in this regard have inspired other actors associated with the show. He recounted, “One of the actors, whom I don’t want to name, wasn’t paid for over three years. After I filed the suit, he was called by the production house and was paid his dues. He called to thank me.”
Being the producer of one of the longest-running shows in television history, Asit Modi has been a part of many controversies. Lately, an actress from the show was charged with a case of sexual and mental harassment against the producer. In response to this, he denied the same in a recent interview, claiming he has a ‘pure heart’.
