Kyiv Receives Support From Four Western Leaders On The Second Anniversary Of The War
State leaders of Italy, Belgium, Canada, and the European Commission President arrive in Kyiv to show support.
Giorgia Meloni of Italy, Justin Trudeau of Canada, and Alexander de Croo of Belgium joined Ukrainian officials in Kyiv. Ursula von der Leyen, the President of the European Commission, also joined the three state leaders in Kyiv. They arrived by overnight train from Poland.
The four leaders gathered as a show of solidarity with Ukraine. This year marks two years since Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The attack destroyed the infrastructure while causing the deaths of tens of thousands of civilians. It also crumbled the economy of the country.
The four leaders wish to showcase the West’s continued support of Ukraine. However, Ukraine lacks military supplies, and Moscow is gaining the upper hand by capturing different territories.
Von der Leyen took to social media platform X to comment that they were there to celebrate the Ukrainian people and their strong-hearted resistance. She continues that they will continue to provide Ukraine with financial, economic, moral, and military support until Ukraine gains freedom.
Meloni and Trudeau will sign deals with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, aligning with the previously signed agreements with Germany and France worth billions of dollars.
Unfortunately, the Republicans in Congress are stalling the $61 billion in aid pledged by President Joe Biden. It puts a strain on Ukraine, as Russia receives steady assistance.
Biden will attend a video conference along with other G7 member nations. Meloni and Zelenskiy will hold the video conference with the other G7 nations.
Italy holds the present rotating presidency of the G7 and states that the conference is essential in making the West’s stance clear on supporting Ukraine. The conference will challenge the notion that the West is weary of Ukraine’s power and that Russia is growing stronger.
Russian tanks and infantry breached the Russia-Ukraine border on February 24, 2022. Rather than seeking refuge, 40 million residents fought to hold back the attack. This determination opposed the Kremlin’s plan to secure a sure win and Ukraine’s defeat.
Zelenskiy attempts to maintain Western focus on the war even as the Israel-Hamas conflict continues to grow day by day. He also comments that Russia will not stop taking over just Ukraine if they win the war.
Vladimir Putin has dismissed these claims as nonsensical. He states that the war is a repercussion of the conflict with the United States. The Kremlin states that the U.S. aims to break apart Russia. However, the West deems the war an unjustified act of aggression, and it must end.
