In a tragic incident in Kolkata, Sanjay Roy, a civic volunteer, has been identified as the main suspect in the brutal rape and murder of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. His presence at the crime scene was confirmed through CCTV footage and other evidence. This incident has sparked protests among medical professionals, who are demanding better security measures and justice for the victim. The junior doctor was found dead in a seminar hall at the hospital on Friday morning.

According to multiple reports, the main suspect confessed to the crime during questioning. Roy showed no signs of regret, reportedly stating, “Hang me if you want.” CCTV footage captured him entering the hospital’s emergency building just hours before the doctor was found dead.

In the hours before the crime, Roy visited two red-light districts. An investigator revealed that Roy admitted to visiting the Kalighat red-light area before arriving at the hospital. Later, he went to the Sovabazar red-light district before finally returning to the hospital to commit the crime. Roy used a motorbike with a Kolkata Police insignia. He was assigned to various locations, including the RG Kar Hospital outpost, and lived in the police barracks.

The suspect, arrested on charges, reportedly washed his clothes the next morning to destroy evidence, according to a police officer involved in the investigation. The officer further stated that after committing the crime, the suspect returned to his residence and slept until late.

According to a report by the Times of India, Roy had a strong addiction to pornography. Law enforcement officials have allegedly found explicit content on his mobile device, further supporting these claims. Additionally, his neighbors alleged that he had a history of multiple failed marriages. Roy was married four times; three of his wives reportedly left him due to his abusive behavior, while his fourth wife died of cancer last year. Neighbors also claimed that he often returned home late at night in a drunken state.

However, Roy’s mother denied all accusations, asserting her son’s innocence. She claimed that he was wrongfully implicated and forced to confess under pressure from the police. “My son is innocent. He was compelled to admit to the crime due to police pressure,” India Today TV reported her as saying.
