Woman Arrested for Allegedly Poisoning Male Friend in Kochi

A 30-year-old woman, Athena, has been arrested by the Kothamangalam police in Kochi for allegedly poisoning her 38-year-old male friend, Ansil, to death. Ansil, a married man with a history of disputes, died at a private hospital after giving a statement to the police, accusing Athena of giving him poison.
Background of the Incident
Athena and Ansil were in a relationship that had become strained recently. Despite filing multiple complaints against him, Athena allegedly continued to maintain contact with Ansil. On the night of the incident, Ansil visited Athena’s residence, where he consumed weed killer. The police are investigating whether he consumed the poison on his own or if Athena force-fed it to him.
Investigation and Arrest
The police investigation revealed that Athena had purchased the weed killer recently, and a bottle of the same was found at her house. Ansil’s family and friends claimed that Athena had contacted them early on, stating that Ansil had attempted suicide at her house. However, based on Ansil’s dying statement and other evidence, the police arrested Athena.
Current Status
Athena was produced before a court and remanded in judicial custody. The police are still investigating the case, including the possibility of accomplices and the exact circumstances surrounding Ansil’s death.
