Buckingham Palace, on February 6th, announced that King Charles had been diagnosed with ‘unspecified’ Cancer. With less than 18 months of his reign remaining, King Charles was diagnosed with cancer while undergoing treatment for an enlarged prostate.

“I would like to express my most heartfelt thanks for the many messages of support and good wishes I have received in recent days,” King Charles said in a statement. “As all those who have been affected by cancer will know, such kind thoughts are the greatest comfort and encouragement,” he further added.

With the treatment significantly impacting his health, the royal duties lie in the hands of other monarchs. The king’s son, Prince William, has issued a statement calling the week a ‘medical focus’, considering the health of his father and his wife, Catherine, Princess of Wales, after her abdominal surgery. Queen Camilla acknowledged the messages and prayers of the citizens and thanked them for their valuable thoughts.

King Charles took over the throne after the demise of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, on 8th September 2022, who reigned over the United Kingdom for 70 years. The king is currently staying at Sandringham for his subsequent treatment.
