Kerala: Congress MLA Uma Thomas in ICU After 15-Foot Fall at Kochi’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium
Hospital officials stated that the MLA remains on ventilator support and continues to receive critical care treatment.

Congress MLA Uma Thomas, representing Kerala’s Thrikkakara constituency, is undergoing critical care treatment for head and spinal injuries after a fall from a gallery at Kochi’s Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium on Sunday evening. Severely bleeding, she was immediately transported to a nearby private hospital by volunteers and others present at the scene.
A medical bulletin issued by the hospital, as reported by PTI, confirmed injuries to her head and spinal cord. Additionally, fractures on her face and ribs have caused internal bleeding in the lungs.
Hospital authorities stated that Thomas is currently on ventilator support and remains in critical care, PTI reported.
Kerala Leader of Opposition VD Satheesan told ANI, “She has sustained a head injury and multiple fractures. She needs to be monitored for the next 24 hours. We are providing all the medical assistance necessary.” He added, “Initially, the situation appeared extremely grave.”
Footage of the incident circulating on social media shows attendees lifting an unconscious Uma Thomas and rushing her to the hospital.
