Tensions between India and Pakistan have escalated in recent days, especially after the Pahalgam terror attack prompted India to initiate Operation Sindoor against Pakistan, pushing both nations to the brink of conflict. Amid this charged atmosphere, security agencies across India are on high alert.
In a recent development, a young woman named Jyoti Malhotra has been arrested for allegedly spying for Pakistan. Her name has gone viral on social media, drawing strong reactions from the public, including television and Bollywood personalities. Here’s what is known about her so far.
Jyoti Malhotra is a well-known YouTuber and social media influencer from Hisar, Haryana. She is popular for her travel vlogs and glamorous online presence. Authorities have been monitoring her for alleged espionage activities. She is accused of sharing classified Indian information with Pakistani intelligence agencies, leading to nationwide uproar and public curiosity about her identity and actions.
Jyoti, 33, runs a YouTube channel titled Travel with Jo, which has amassed over 3.77 lakh subscribers. She also commands a significant following on Instagram with 1.31 lakh followers. She resides in New Agrasen Colony on Ghoda Farm Road in Hisar, and her father is Harish Kumar Malhotra.
In 2023, Jyoti obtained a visa to visit Pakistan. Prior to her trip, she met a Pakistani High Commission official named Danish. This meeting reportedly led to her forming links with Pakistani intelligence operatives, with the association strengthening over time. Her online content, including several videos related to Pakistan, caught the attention of security agencies and eventually led to her arrest.
Jyoti was taken into custody during a joint operation conducted by the Hisar police and the Intelligence Bureau (IB). She was arrested from the New Agrasen Extension locality of Hisar. Authorities have detained six individuals in connection with this case, including Jyoti. She has been placed under police custody for five days for interrogation.
Just days before her arrest, Jyoti had shared a video from Jakarta, Indonesia, showing her traveling by train. In another recent post, she appeared on a flight to Singapore. It remains unclear whether these images were posted in real-time or were older photos shared later. Her social media activity and videos related to Pakistan played a key role in raising suspicion and ultimately uncovering the case.
