Jharkhand Woman Arrested for Killing Daughter Due to Superstition

In Jharkhand’s Palamu district, a mother allegedly killed her young daughter due to superstition, police reported on Thursday. The incident occurred in Kharad village under the jurisdiction of the Hussainabad police station.
According to Sanjay Kumar Yadav, the police station in-charge, the accused, Geeta Devi, wife of Arun Ram and a resident of the village, has been apprehended. Yadav stated that Geeta Devi killed her one-and-a-half-year-old daughter under the influence of superstition and buried her in the ground. The police have arrested the woman, and an investigation is underway.
Villagers revealed that Geeta Devi buried her daughter near the Sikni Barvadhora forest, about 1.5 to 2 kilometers from her house. They also noted that she returned to the village at night in a distressed state, prompting some locals to inform the police.
The Palamu police quickly responded, apprehending the accused. Villagers claimed that Geeta Devi committed the act to achieve ‘tantric siddhi’ under the pretext of superstition.
