Former Minister and JD(S) leader H. D. Revanna finds himself in deepening trouble as he now faces charges of kidnapping a woman who is said to be a victim of sexual abuse by his son, Prajwal Revanna. Prajwal Revanna, an MP from Hassan, is the BJP-led NDA candidate for the upcoming Lok Sabha election. The victim, a former maid in H. D. Revanna’s household, is believed to have been featured in a video depicting her rape by Prajwal Revanna, according to police sources.
The FIR against H. D. Revanna was filed just before his anticipatory bail hearing in a Special Court for People’s Representatives in Bengaluru on May 3. He was previously accused of sexual harassment by another former maid. In that case, he’s seeking anticipatory bail and failed to appear for questioning by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) on May 2. Police are actively searching for the kidnapped woman, who is crucial to the investigation against Prajwal Revanna.
The complaint leading to the kidnapping charges came from the victim’s 20-year-old son, lodged at the K. R. Nagar Police Station in Mysuru district. He stated that his mother, who had worked for H. D. Revanna for six years and left three years ago, was coerced into accompanying Satish Babanna, an acquaintance, on April 29. She has been unreachable since then. According to the complaint, Babanna came to their home and claimed that H. D. Revanna’s wife, Bhavani Revanna, had summoned the mother. He later dropped her off, but he threatened the family against speaking to the police.
On April 29, Satish Babanna returned to take the mother again, this time coercing her onto his bike. By May 1, the complainant heard from friends and family about a video circulating showing his mother being raped by Prajwal Revanna. Despite her pleas, Prajwal Revanna allegedly raped her, leading the son to believe his mother had been kidnapped to prevent her from testifying.
The complainant urged the police to rescue his mother, fearing for her life, and take legal action against those involved. He accused H. D. Revanna of instructing Satish Babanna to kidnap his mother and keep her at an undisclosed location. The police are actively investigating the case to ensure her safety and hold those responsible accountable.
