Jaipur Tragedy: Chemical Truck Collision Sparks Devastating Fire
According to a PTI report, the police stated that several individuals suffered burn injuries in the incident.
In a tragic incident on Friday morning, a collision involving a chemical-laden truck resulted in a massive fire near a petrol pump on the Jaipur-Ajmer highway, leaving five people dead and over 35 injured, according to police reports. Preliminary investigations revealed that the truck, which collided with other vehicles, was carrying chemicals. The crash occurred in front of a petrol pump, with videos from the scene showing thick smoke billowing from the burning vehicles.
“Several trucks have been engulfed in flames, though the exact number is yet to be confirmed. Some victims with burn injuries have been rushed to hospitals,” said Bhankrota Station House Officer (SHO) Manish Gupta, as quoted by PTI. Ambulances transported the injured to nearby medical facilities, and traffic on the highway was brought to a halt.
Jaipur District Magistrate Jitendra Soni confirmed that around 40 vehicles were affected by the fire. He assured that the blaze was largely under control, with fire brigades deployed to the site.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma visited the hospital where the injured were being treated. “About 24–25 individuals are in the ICU, and more injured victims are arriving. It is a severe accident,” stated Dr. Deepak Maheshwari, Principal of SMS Medical College.
Separate Fire Incident on MI Road
In another fire incident in Jaipur, a major blaze broke out at a market on MI Road on Wednesday evening, gutting three shops. Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported.
Jalupura Police Station SHO Hawa Singh reported that the fire started around 8:15 p.m., with locals promptly alerting authorities. “While patrolling, I was informed of the fire and quickly relayed the message to the control room. The fire brigade arrived and controlled the situation within an hour. Three shops were affected, and the extent of the damage is yet to be determined,” said Singh.
Both incidents highlight the need for increased safety measures and quick emergency response to prevent further tragedies.
