Jada Pinkett Smith Opened Up About Her Separation from Will Smith and Getting a Proposal from Chris Rock

In a candid interview, Jada Pinkett revealed that she and Will Smith attended the ceremony “as family, not as husband and wife.” Will and Jada got married in 1997. Jaden, 25, Willow, 22, and Trey, 3, are the couple’s three children. Jada’s children come first, despite their marital difficulties. She referred to her kids as her “little gurus” and said they had given her “a deep sense of self-acceptance.” “The degree of their unconditional affection for their father and me is what has given me strength,” added Jada.
She also opened up about Will Smith’s shocking 2022 Oscars moment when he slapped Chris Rock on stage when he joked about her head being shaved. Even though Jada had previously spoken candidly about her alopecia, Will was so offended by Rock’s remark about her shaved head that he stormed up to the stage and gave him a hard slap. Jada finally addressed it after a year, she claims that she thought it was all a “skit.” “I thought, ‘This is a skit.’ I was like, ‘There’s no way that Will hit him.’ It wasn’t until Will started to walk back to his chair that I even realized it wasn’t a skit,” said Jada. Nevertheless, she let Will and Chris handle the situation as they saw fit.
She further added that Chris Rock came downstage to apologize to her after the incident. “Chris came down to the end of the stage and tried to apologize to me. He said, ‘I didn’t mean you any harm.’ I said, ‘I can’t talk about this now.” She also said that later Chris called her, and they both apologized to each other, and she genuinely wished him the best.
She spilled some more tea during the course of the interview by mentioning the time when she got asked out by Chris Rock amid divorce rumors with her husband Will Smith. “I believe that every summer, rumors would spread that Will and I were divorcing. And Chris, he believed that we were divorcing this specific summer. He basically said, ‘I’d love to take you out,’ when he called me. I asked, ‘What do you mean?’ in response. Well, aren’t you and Will getting a divorce?” he said. I said, “No.” Chris, those are only whispers. He was horrified. And he expressed his sincere regret, and that was that.
