Bijnor: A police investigation into an alleged acid attack on a female advocate has revealed that the complaint was fabricated, officials said. Shashi Bala, 35, from Thakurdwara in Moradabad, had lodged a complaint on February 27, accusing Sachin Kumar from Lalpur village (Udham Singh Nagar, Uttarakhand) and Nitin Singh from Mahua Dabra (Jaspur) of attacking her with acid near the court chambers.
Bala alleged the assault stemmed from personal enmity related to cases she was handling against the accused. She claimed that Sachin and Nitin pointed a gun at her head before throwing acid, after which she was admitted to a government hospital. Acting on her complaint, police registered an FIR under Sections 124(1) and 351(3) of the BNS.
According to Bala, Sachin was involved in a harassment case, while Nitin faced dowry-related charges. She also alleged they had threatened her.
However, Moradabad SP (Rural) Kunwar Akash Singh stated, “Both witnesses named in the complaint refused to support the claims. Call detail records showed Sachin was at a factory in Kashipur and Nitin was in Haridwar on the day of the alleged incident. Additionally, medical reports did not confirm any acid attack injuries. Based on the investigation, the case has been closed.”
