Admiral R Hari Kumar, the Chief of Naval Staff, stated on Wednesday that the Navy is dedicated to achieving complete “Atmanirbhar,” or self-sufficiency, by 2047, the year India celebrates 100 years of independence. The Navy chief spoke at Karnavati University’s graduation. Karnavati University is a private university in the Gandhinagar district located close to Uvarsad village.
According to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, the Indian Navy has a distinguished history in this area, and the defence sector is a significant source of demand. Atmanirbhar Bharat is being carried forward by the Indian Navy, which is building 65 warships and submarines at different shipbuilding yards, according to Kumar’s speech as the chief guest.
“We have made a commitment to the national leadership, to become fully Atmanirbhar by 2047. When we look at the economic part of it, every rupee spent on shipbuilding triggers a circulation of Rs 1.82. In addition to shipbuilding, the demand spectrum of the Navy also ranges from heavy machinery, like propulsion, power, and associated auxiliaries, to high-end weapons and electronics,” he said.
Furthermore, he declared that the nation is “on course to become a fully developed nation by 2047.” “I am convinced that this aspirational growth will be founded on the knowledge, energy, and enthusiasm of young and brilliant minds coming out of educational institutions,” Kumar stated.
“Our nation is going through the most exciting times since Independence. We live in an egalitarian society. We have moved from being the 10th largest economy to the fifth largest economy in the world in less than a decade. And we are set to be the third largest economy before the end of this decade,” the Navy chief said.
A nation’s development is correlated with its exports via the seas, and since the seas carry 95% of India’s trade volume and 68% of its value, every citizen’s livelihood is entwined with the seas, according to Kumar. “The Indian Navy is entrusted with the task of protecting and promoting our maritime trade as well as preserving our maritime interests. So, we also contribute to economic development and overall nation-building efforts,” he added.
“Whether it is Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, or our Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Gujarat has produced many luminaries and leaders who have shaped and continue to influence the destiny of India,” Kumar stated. He also mentioned how Gujarat’s enterprising traders had travelled the world and built trade connections across oceans for centuries. At Karnavati University’s fourth convocation, 869 students received degrees.
