An Indian national was among four individuals detained by US immigration authorities on charges of “assault with sexual motivation.” The incident occurred during US President Donald Trump’s aggressive crackdown on illegal immigrants. The man has been identified as 29-year-old Jaspal Singh, who was arrested in Tukwila, Washington, on January 29.
According to a press release from US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Seattle, Singh was charged with “assault with sexual motivation,” as reported by PTI. The other three detainees are citizens of Mexico, Guatemala, and El Salvador. All four individuals will remain in ICE custody.
“Protecting our communities and preventing further victimisation is of utmost importance to ICE across the Pacific Northwest,” stated Drew Bostock, Director of ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations in Seattle. He added, “These arrests send a clear message that illegal criminal threats will not be tolerated.”
Since Donald Trump assumed office on January 20, his administration has aggressively pursued its anti-immigration agenda, with over 8,000 individuals arrested by federal immigration authorities.
