The Asian Para Games in Hangzhou, China, have witnessed a remarkable display of talent and determination by Indian athletes, who have not only secured numerous gold medals but also set new world records in various events. Among these extraordinary achievements, reigning Olympic and world champion Sumit Antil’s performance stands out, as he successfully defended his gold medal and improved his own world record in the men’s javelin F64 event.
Sumit Antil’s first throw of 66.22 meters not only broke the Games Record, which he had previously set at 56.29 meters in 2018 in Jakarta but also signaled his intention to dominate the competition. His second throw, measuring an impressive 70.48 meters, was just shy of his own world record of 70.83 meters, achieved earlier this year at the World Para Athletics Championships in Paris.
Another moment of glory came from Sundar Singh, who secured gold with a remarkable throw of 68.60 meters in the Men’s Javelin Throw-F46 final. This throw not only broke Sri Lankan Dinesh Priyantha’s record of 67.79 meters but also set new records at the Games and the Asian level.
In the men’s javelin throw F37/38 category, Haney made India proud by winning gold with a Games record throw of 55.97 meters in his third attempt.
Indian athletes Ankur Dhama and Rakshitha Raju clinched gold in the men’s and women’s 1500m T11 events, showcasing their exceptional running abilities.
