Indian Army Showcases New Weapons Integration: Drones, Munitions, and Armored Vehicles
The Indian Army has unveiled a series of advanced weaponry, highlighting their operational deployment and integration within their strike formations. These introductions, from indigenously developed drones capable of swarm attacks to state-of-the-art armored personnel carriers, mark significant advancements in the Army’s arsenal, as shared in a recent series of social media updates.
The Army’s validation exercise, reviewed by Chief of Army Staff General Manoj Pande, showcased multi-domain operations, emphasizing deep maneuvers integrating modern technology and cutting-edge equipment. Of notable mention is the operational usage of swarm drones during the validation exercise in the desert, affirming the military’s focus on drone induction and force modernization.
The recent delivery of the heterogeneous swarm unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) system, capable of engaging targets over 50 km into enemy territory, has been a pivotal addition. Supplied by Bengaluru-based startup NewSpace Research & Technologies, these drones are equipped with advanced autonomy and artificial intelligence, allowing them to perform missions autonomously with minimal human intervention.
Additionally, the Army has incorporated indigenous loitering munitions, including the Nagastra-1, characterized by its capacity to hover, locate, and strike precise targets while offering the flexibility to abort, recover, and reuse. These munitions, supplied by Solar Industries, offer both lethal and covert operation capabilities with low acoustic signature and high precision strike capabilities.
The Army’s acquisitions, part of emergency procurements amounting to Rs 18 crore, encompass various crucial assets, including kamikaze drones, designed for self-destruction upon enemy impact, and the Kalyani M4 vehicles, robust mine-protected armored personnel carriers manufactured by the Kalyani Group.
These developments not only illustrate the Army’s focus on modern warfare techniques but also reflect their proactive approach towards bolstering their defense capabilities in response to evolving security challenges.
